Father Guy Wilson, from Our Lady of Soledad Church in Coachella, led the crowd in prayer and asked the community to come together in light of the recent killings of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and five police officers in Dallas, Texas. Youth reporter, Karla Martinez spoke to community members at the, ‘Coachella for Black Lives’ rally about what motivated them to attend the event. Coachella—Synergy Music and Arts Festival showcased local musicians and art on Saturday, November 15, 2014. The festival was held at the Dateland Park in Coachella, Calif. The Los Viejitos Car Club was also present at the festival, showing off their brightly colored classic cars.

The city’s Mexican Independence Day event, which took place September 15, 2013, drew families from throughout the Eastern Coachella Valley to Rancho Las Flores Park for a day of food, fun, and entertainment.
